Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine the problems faced by women on career development process and offer solutions to the problems.The study is organized into three sections. In the first and second sections; a literature review is made. In the first section, the concept of career development is explained. In the second section; problems faced by women in working life are examined. In the third section of study; an overall assessment is made about the results of a case study about problems on career development process of women in public sector in Trabzon. A mixed method (quantitative and qualitative methods) is used in the case study. In the quantitative analysis part, the data obtained from the questionnaire is analyzed by using SPSS 23 Statistical Package for Social Sciences program. Factor analysis and Kruskall Wallis tests are used in order to test the hypotheses. In the qualitative analysis part, descriptive and content analysis are made. As a result; it is revealed that the women faced problems about overcoming the multi responsibilities, gender stereotypes, organizational culture, occupational discrimination in human resource practices, barriers that put by themselves, lack of mentors and perceptions of women managers on career developlment process. At the end of the section, solutions are offered for these problems.
