Self-care management among adult patients with diabetes mellitus type2 in Thi-Qar city

Diabetes Mellitus, a "silent disease" that manifests with few symptoms in the beginning but progresses rapidly to the point of causing organ damage, has emerged as a significant public health. The primary purpose of this research to assess the self-care management among adult patients with diabetes mellitus type2, and to find out the relationship between self-care management and patient's age, gender, education level, occupation, and duration of disease. This descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted in Dhi-Qar Da (Al-Shatri general hospital), Iraq, was conducted from February 20 to June 1, 2022. One hundred fifty patients were randomly selected for the trial, besides , questionnaire collected research data. Demographics: contains nine items about the patients' socio-demographics part and Self-reported Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire has four subscales with 16 items and a four-point Likert scale validaty of the questionnaire was translated into Arabic utilizing forward and backward translation. IBM SPSS version 25.0 was used to analyze data descriptively and inferentially. According to the research findings, study results that indicate the overall evaluation of self-care management among adult patients with diabetes mellitus type2 is moderate study results that explain the correlation between demographic data and overall evaluation of self-care management at p value of more than 0.05. In comparison, there is a positive relationship between the level of education and self-care management at p value of less than 0.05.
