Examination of Siirt Arabic in the context of oral culture elements

In this study, the oral culture elements used in Siirt center, its district Tillo and its villages İkizbağlar (Tom), Fersaf, Çatılı (Snép), Ḥelenzé and Doluharman (Fískên) in the region called Ristâk will be discussed. Our study has been prepared with the aim of keeping the Siirt Arabic alive and carrying it to the future. In this sense, it will be ensured that the vocabulary that has existed in the dialect for centuries will be compiled and recorded. Although Siirt Arabic does not have a written culture, it has survived until today thanks to its rich oral culture elements. In our study, the general features of Siirt Arabic, proverbs and idioms used in the region and told among the people, stories, songs and folk songs, nursery rhymes and riddles were taken. In this sense, the vocabulary belonging to the dialect was compiled through face-to-face interviews with the source people as much as possible, the findings were examined with the scientific methods required by the fields of dialectology and linguistics, the differences between the regions in the dialect were touched on and some words in the oral culture products were compared with Modern Arabic. . In this way, first of all, it will be ensured that the oral culture products of Siirt Arabic are recorded. In addition, the effect of vocabulary related to the preservation of the dialect will be revealed. In addition, Siirt Arabic will be introduced to the academic community and it will contribute to the creation of awareness in order to keep the dialect alive.
