The impact of innovation on the unemployment youth in Turkey, 1995-2017

This study investigates the impact of innovation on theunemployedyouth in Turkey in theperiodbetween 1995 and 2017.Thedependentvariable in thestudy is theunemployment rate between 15-24 years of age; fourvariablesaretaken as sum of patent-brand-petty patent, ratio of R & D investmentsto GDP, ratio of technology-basedimportsto total importsandratio of technology-basedexportsto total exports. Thestudy is dividedintofourseparatechapters, examiningtheconcepts of unemploymentandinnovation as wellastypes of unemploymentandinnovationandeconomic-socialdimensions, especiallytheinteraction of bothcases.TheGrangercausalityanalysiswasconductedtodeterminethecorrelationamongvariables.Accordingtotheresults of thestudy, whentheunemployment data aredependentuponvariablesandothervariablesareindependent;Itcan be saidthatthere is a one-waycausalityrelationshipbetweenthevariables of R & D investments, technologybasedimports, unemploymentvariable.However, althoughtechnology-basedexports hadnoeffect on unemployment, it wasdeterminedthattheywereonlyaffectedbytechnology-basedimports in thelongterm.
