Abstract (EN)

In this doctoral thesis, convicts and detainees of drug crime/crimes in Bingöl M Type Closed and Open Prison are discussed sociologically and the socialization factors that are effective in committing crimes of these convicts and detainees are investigated. Hence, the effects of variables such as family, friendship, socio-economic status, professional status, religiosity, and mass media, which are thought to be effective in individuals committing drug crimes/offenses, were examined. In addition, the exclusion of drug offenders due to the crimes they committed after entering the prison, whether drug users receive treatment or their willingness to be treated, remorse, visits, and plans for their children were examined. In addition, it was also investigated whether drug offenders experience fear after being released from prison, what they will do if they feel fear and anxiety, and whether people have any plans for their families after completing their sentences. This research is based on field research supported by a face-to-face survey applied to 219 participants in prison for drug crimes in Bingöl M Type Closed and Open Prison and in-depth interview data with 30 participants. In the analysis of the quantitative data of the research, simple frequency analysis and cross tables were made using the SPSS v22.00 program. In addition, it was determined that the participants found the punishments very deterrent, the vast majority of them regretted it, most of the drug users wanted to be treated, they demanded the state to create employment areas to prevent them from committing these crimes, and they were afraid and worried about their future. In addition, it has been determined that the biggest factor in the commission of drug crime/crimes is the circle of friends, the crime rate decreases with the increase in the income level of the participants, the profession of the participants who commit drug crimes is the tradesman, and the participants mostly consider themselves religious. In addition, the qualitative results of the research support the results obtained from the quantitative analysis.
