The primary objective of this research is to explore the predictive role of self-esteem, attachment styles, and origin family functions in explaining conflict resolution in romantic relationships. 265 adult individuals are administered using Demographic Information Form, Conflict Resolution Styles Scale (CRSS), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R), and Family Assessment Device (FAD). Correlational research method is used in order to examine relationship among study variables and demographic variables. Multiple Regression analysis, Independent T-Test analysis, and One-Way ANOVA analysis methods are carried out within the aim of answering the research questions. According to the results, the predictive role of attachment styles and origin family functions on conflict resolution in romantic relationships is found. Significant differences are found between the variables and gender, marital status, relationship duration, educational status, socio-economic status, and age of the participants. However, self-esteem was not found to have a predictive role on conflict resolution in romantic relationships. Limitations and the findings of the present study are discussed with regard to related literature; and theoretical implications and applications of the findings and suggestions for future research are presented.

Parenting and schema transmissions between generations: An intergenerational analysis

Early relationships or experiences between parents and children are of fundamental importance for the child's physical, social and psychological (emotional) development. In other words, the family environment is one of the most important determining factors for the development and life of children. In this sense, children's development of cognitive schemas about themselves, others and life occurs through early experiences with parents. The main purpose of this study is to examine whether the early maladaptive schemas of the parents affect the schemas of their children. In addition, it is to examine whether there is a relationship between individuals' schemas and their parents' parenting styles. The method of the study is the relational screening model. The sample of the study is determined as 135. Three groups were formed as children (n=45), mothers (n=45) and fathers (n=45). In the study, a questionnaire consisting of demographic information, Young Parenting Inventory (YPI) and Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ) scales is used as a data collection tool. According to the results, there are differences in terms of age, marital status and number of siblings, education status, education of the mother, education of the father, psychological assistance status, profession and gender, having early maladaptive schemas. A significant correlation was observed between parenting styles and schemas. When the studies in the literature are examined, it is seen that similar results are obtained to the study. An investigation of the effect of goal setting group guidance program on 8th-grade students' goal commitment, self-efficacy, and academic procrastination levels

This research aims to examine the effect of a group guidance program on goal setting on students' academic procrastination, academic self-efficacy, and goal commitment levels. The group guidance program was organized according to the principles of a solution-focused therapy approach. A quasi-experimental study was conducted. Within the scope of the research, "Goal Commitment", "Academic Self-Efficacy", "Academic Procrastination" and "Personal Information Form" were applied to 158 students studying in the 8th grade of middle school. Inventory results were evaluated and 20 students with low levels of goal commitment and academic self-efficacy and high levels of academic procrastination were identified. Of the 20 students, 10 students were randomly assigned to the experimental group and 10 students were assigned to the control group. Guidance group work on goal setting was carried out with the students in the study group for 8 weeks. No study was conducted with the students in the control group. At the end of the study, a posttest was administered to the experimental and control groups. Mann Whitney U and Wilcoxon Ranked Signs Test were used to analyze the research data. According to the results of the study, a statistically significant increase was found in the goal commitment and academic self-efficacy levels of the students who participated in the goal-setting program compared to the students who did not participate. It was also concluded that the students in the experimental group showed a statistically significant decrease in academic procrastination levels. The findings were discussed with the related literature.

Experiences of couple and family therapists on therapeutic change and common factors: A qualitative study

Psychotherapy researchers often examine how therapeutic change takes place and how effective a particular therapy process is. When the related studies revealed that different therapy models were similarly beneficial, the researchers developed a new model-independent approach to determine which factors lead to therapeutic change. The researchers suggest some factors leading to therapeutic change and common to different therapy models. They claim that what really leads to therapeutic change is these factors, which they call "common factors". The present study investigates therapists' experiences regarding how the common factors unique to couple and family therapy affect therapeutic change. The experiences of 8 couple and family therapists (8 women) were examined through semi-structured interviews and the data collected were analyzed by using thematic analysis method. The research data revealed 9 themes for 4 common factors unique to couple and family therapy: "Getting Over Blaming", "Everyone Taking Responsibility", "Understanding the Impact of Past Relationships", "Getting to Know Each Other", "Recognizing Support and Effort", "Being Able to Communicate", "Therapist Working the Relationship", "Accepting the Differences" and "Comprehending Not Being Judged". The present study discusses research design, findings, literature review, strengths and weaknesses of the study, future research suggestions and implications. Keywords: Therapeutic change, Couple and family therapy, Therapist experiences, Common factors, Thematic analysis
