Smartphone addiction and fear of negative evaluation of adolescents in the 15-18 age group

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the age of parents, the level of education of the parents and the monthly income of the family. Research is a field study conducted in descriptive method and screening model. The working group of the study consists of 433 high school students studying in high schools in Sakarya province. Usu Smart Phone Addiction Scale (adapted for Turkish high school students by Şata et al. (2016) and ve Fear of Negative Assessment Scale Turkish adapted to Turkish by Bilge and Kelecioglu (2008) were used to collect the research data. In order to collect the data of the research, the researcher went to the high schools in the city center of Sakarya and collected the data by giving students the time to fill out the questionnaires and filling them. The data collection tools were filled with the instructors in the school environment. The data were analyzed by using www.e-picos.com New York software and MedCalc statistical package program. When the results of the study were examined, it was found that there was a positive relationship between smart phone addiction and fear of negative appraisal in adolescents. In addition, it was found that the level of smart phone addiction was frequently observed in adolescents regardless of gender, age, parental education level and monthly income. However, the fear of negative evaluation did not differ according to gender, age, father's educational status and monthly income; however, it was concluded that the educational status of the mother affected the fear of being evaluated negatively.
