Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the effects of healthy eating behaviors and food choices, which form the basis of eating habits in life, on the nutritional status of individuals aged 18-45 who applied to a special diet and physiotherapy center in Gaziantep. The study was carried out with a total of 109 individuals, 57,8% of whom were women, whose age range was 18-45. Information form for general information,Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ), ORTO-15 Scale, three-day nutrition registration form were applied to the participants. The average age for women is 30,28 ∓ 8,14 years, for men it is 27,93 ∓ 6,09 years. When the participants' body mass index (BMI) is examined, 45,7% of them are overweight. Considering the scores obtained from the Food Choice Questionnaire, it was determined that the highest score in total was sensory appearance and the lowest score was ethical anxiety. Considering the ORTO-15 scores, it was found that 72,5% of the participants did not have a healthy eating obsession. When the FCQ was compared according to gender, the convenience score of women was found to be higher. According to the result of the analysis, there was no connection between the main meal and FCQ, while a significant connection was found between price and familiarity sub-dimensions of those who had snacks compared to those who did not. When the connection between food consumption records and FCQ was examined, a negative relationship was found between carbohydrate percentage and health and weight control sub-dimension. When the relationship between vitamin D and mood, convenience, price conditions was examined, positive results were observed (p<0,05). When the relationship between the participants' obsession with healthy eating and their food choices was examined, it was determined that the convenience score of those who were not obsessed with healthy eating was higher than those who were obsessed with healthy eating. When the relationship between food consumption records and ORTO-15 Scale was examined, no important difference was found (p>0,05). When the education level was compared with the ORTO-15 Scale, it was determined that the participants with primary school education had lower scores from the scale than those with high school. According to the result, it was determined that there was no important difference between healthy eating obsession and food consumption, and those who did not have a healthy eating obsession had a high convenience sub-dimension score. It has been found out that more studies are needed on healthy eating obsession, food choice and nutritional status.
