Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS) exercises on urinary flow and quality of life in individuals with dysfunctional voiding was evaluated. This experimental study was conducted with patients who applied to UroKlinik in Istanbul between March 2021 and June 2023 and were diagnosed with dysfunctional voiding. The 34 participants included in the study were randomized into two groups: the experimental group with DNS exercises and the control group with manual application. Dysfunctional Voiding and İncontinence Symptom Scoring (DVISS), SF-36 Quality of Life Assessment Short Form, and Uroflowmetry test were applied to all participants before and after the intervention. According to the results of our research, the post-treatment uroflowmetry results of the participants in the DNS exercise group revealed that the parameters of gender, voided volume, mean flow rate, corrected flow rate and quality of life were physical function, physical role difficulty, emotional role difficulty, mental health, social functionality, pain, general perception of health and symptom levels of voiding disorders improved compared to pre-treatment; found (p˂0.05). Other variables, on the other hand, did not show a statistically significant difference in terms of values before and after treatment (p>0.05). On the other hand, post-treatment uroflowmetry results of the participants in the control group included flow rate, mean flow rate and quality of life parameters such as physical role difficulty, emotional role difficulty, energy/vigor/vitality, mental health, social functionality, pain, general health perception, and voiding symptoms. score levels were found to have improved (p˂0.05). Other variables, on the other hand, did not show a statistically significant difference in terms of values before and after treatment (p>0.05). The decrease in the symptom level of voiding disorder of the participants in the DNS exercise group was greater than in the control group. Other amounts of change did not differ statistically significantly according to the groups (p>0.05). In conclusion, our study showed that both the DNS exercise approach and manual applications can be effective in the treatment of voiding disorder symptoms. However, the decrease in the symptom level of voiding disorder in the participants in the DNS exercise group was greater than in the control group.
