Medicolegal i̇nvestigation of deaths due to traffic accident between 2011-2012 in diyarbakir

Objective: It is objected to evaluate medico-legal investigation of deaths due to traffic accident between 2011-2012 in Diyarbakır Material and Methods: In this study, retrospectively we analyzed that examination of corpses and autopsy reports of the traffic accidents' deaths between 01.01.2011-31.12.2012. It has been found that 413 of the 1900 judicially reported deaths were sourced from traffic accidents. Results: It has been found that male deaths are more than the female deaths in all age groups, and that the in vehicle accidents are mostly in general population, but in children and elder people extravehicular accidents were mostly seen, the accidents were happened in Summer and autumn mostly, and happened respectively in Thursday, Sunday and Saturday, leastly in Friday, that 41,6 percent of the dead were autopsied Conclusion: For reducing the fatalities and the injuries in traffic accidents, it has been thought that it is necessary to give education beginning in the primary schools, to widespread buckling up the seat belts, to necessitate wearing helmets while riding on bikes, to provide air, sea, and railway transportation as alternatives to the motorways, to give importance public transportation (especially, it is necessary to improve rail systems for transportation), and to provide playground for children.
