Abstract (EN)
The study was conducted as a self-controlled randomized clinical research to determine the effect of nutrient consumption on dialysis adequacy and fatigue during hemodialysis in patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. The study population consisted of 127 patients treated in the hemodialysis unit of an university hospital and treated in the private dialysis center, and the sample consisted of 32 patients. Each patient was assigned to both the experimental and control group. To this end, 16 patients were randomly assigned to Group 1 and the other 16 patients were assigned to Group 2. In the first month, while Group 1 received food 1.00-1.30 hours after the start of the hemodialysis session, Group 2 did not receive food. The following month the groups were switched diagonally. Personal Information Form, Hemodialysis Follow-up and Laboratory Findings Form, and Piper Fatigue Scale were used to collect the data. Paired t-test, Repeated ANOVA test, and Bonferroni test were used to analyze the data. In our study, the mean age of the patients was 53.7±16.8 years, most of them had additional chronic diseases, and the most common cause of chronic renal failure was hypertension. Fatigue was experienced by 84.4%, insomnia by 62.5%, and malaise by 56.3% of the patients. In this study, phosphorus value was higher when food was consumed during dialysis (p<0.05). In this study, it was found that there was no significant difference between URR and spKt/V values when food was consumed and not consumed during dialysis (p>0.05). The mean blood pressure measured at the 2nd hour during the dialysis session was lower when the patients consumed food and the statistical difference was found to be significant (p<0.05). No significant difference was found between the mean scores of the Piper fatigue scale when food was consumed and not consumed during dialysis (p>0.05). It was determined in this study that nutrient consumption during dialysis did not affect dialysis adequacy and fatigue level.
