Characters in Hüseyin Nihal Atsız's novels

History and literature are two fields that complete and nurture each other. The subject of these two fields is human. Life adventures of human beings blended in time to create history, and the relationship between literature and history began with the transformation of these past adventures into aesthetic pleasure. The wars, peace, treaties and all human situations in the historical process have been the source of literature. Every literary narrative largely mirrors the history and the historical era. Historical novels are frequently used in Turkish literature. Historical novel is the text in which the events, experiences and life stories of prominent people in the past have been enriched and reproduced in the imagination of the novelist by adhering to historical realism. There are many heroic events in Turkish history that will inspire writers and poets. This has led to the formation of a strong valour literature. In order to develop national consciousness, to teach national culture and to show what Turkish youth can achieve, poets and writers have frequently included epic and historical issues in their work. They have produced heroes with extraordinary qualities that challenge every difficulty. We start to see these heroes from the Turkish mythological periods. The Turks sometimes fought for their freedom, melted the iron mountain (Ergenekon Epic), sometimes born with a divine force and gave birth to the idea of world domination (Epic of Oguz Kagan). Not only the characteristics of heroes, but also the rules of social life, the transition period (birth, marriage, death) practices have been passed on to the next generation. In this context, narratives undertake the task of adopting Turkish culture to the memory of future generations and shedding light on them. For a text to be original and interesting, poets and writers include images and symbols. The concept of symbol, like the concept of image, differs for every writer. Texts can also be given to the reader by means of symbols, as well as through setting and patterns. viii In order to transfer a work in accordance with its original form and position it within its own frame, it is necessary to give information about the work and the period in which it is written. Thus, it is easier to make sense of the aims of the work and the principle that shapes the work. In short, in order to better understand the work, it is necessary to know the important events and the worldview of the time it was written.In this study, I have examined all the novels of Hüseyin Nihal ATSIZ who was one of the leaders of the Turkism / Turanism movement, is known for its literary and historian personality and still continues to influence people today. The purpose of the study is to convey the Turkish history and its images in the novels of H. Nihal Atsız in detail and to perceive Atsız's works based on his intellectual direction. Thus, on the scale of the historical touches of Turkism to literature, I tried to better understand and explain the position of Atsız. In this study, the novels of Bozkurtların Ölümü, Bozkurtlar Diriliyor, Deli Kurt, Ruh Adam, Dalkavuklar Gecesi ve Z Vitamini were analyzed respectively by taking the novels as the starting point; with characters, setting descriptions and chronology, common aspects of historical events were determined. The way Turkish national culture and Turkish symbols take place in the novel are mentioned. The chronology of Turkish history was taken as a basis during the analysis of the novels.
