Abstract (EN)

The reforms about education have been begun at the period of II. Mahmut in the Ottoman Empire. The medreses were the foundation of the education system in the Ottoman Empire. The education reforms have been continued at II. Abdülhamit period. II. Abdülhamit has radically changed education system and he established too much education organization to disseminate education. II. Abdülhamit defended the view that the future of state was possible with modern young and educated people. During II. Abdülhamit period, many schools have been opened in primary, secondary and high education fields. Mostly, these schools have increased the need for teachers because of the importance given to education. Teacher schools for man and woman has been established for teacher need and also to increase the education level . The teacher schools which oped for the neccesity of education were Darulmuallimat, Darulmuallim-i Sıbyan, Darulmuallimin-i Rüsdi. The teachers that graduated from these schools have been employed at different city and different area of the state. These teachers's salary have been given from different sources. For this reason, there were differences between the salaries of the teachers working in the Ottoman state. These different sources were the state budget and local education comissions. The teachers's salary were very low because of poor economy at II. Abdülhamit period and their salary mostly has been given irregularly or delayed. A lot of data at archivel documents and academic studies show their troubles and problems. Economic problems of theachers and the differences of salary between teachers were tried to explain by decuments that obtained from Ottoman archive.
