Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the role of geography in economic development. The study struggles to question whether countries with high population density due to their geographical characteristics, countries with river and river resources and countries with relatively colder climate conditions are more economically developed. The basic prerequisites in the study are based on the assumption that geographical features that provide transportation advantages such as population density, climate, rivers and streams are an important factor in economic development. The high population density increases the practice of living together, while at the same time contributing to the development of innovative thoughts. This situation has a positive effect on economic development. Similarly, high rivers and river resources provide advantages in terms of cheap transportation costs both inside and outside the country. This situation also affects economic development positively by providing transportation advantages. In addition, based on the thesis that climate is effective on human nature and behaviour, it is thought that temperature has an effect on economic development. In the study, panel data analysis was conducted to examine these relationships between geography and economic development.
