Studies on abstinence in substance dependent population; Batman version

Aim: To determine the factors that affect the substance use and to evaluate the results of the studies conducted to end the substance use of the users. Material and Method: This study was descriptive. The research population consists of 263 people using substance that the Sub-Commission of Substance Addiction has contacted. 1 sociologist and 1 psychologist at the commission visited the houses of these people. Person and family members were interviewed face-to-face using the Interview Information Form including the demographic characteristics and substance use status of the individuals. Thus, the process of termination of substance use was initiated. Results: Of the 263 people who participated in the study, % 95 were male and % 92 were single. The mean age of the participants was 22 and % 47 did not complete primary education. % 77 of the participants do not work, and % 51 of the family income is less than 1000 tl. The reason for using substance; % 79 of the participants were found to be friend effect. As a result of interviews with participants and their families; % 29,4 of those who terminated drug use, % 5,9 of those who refused treatment, % 52,9 of whom interviews were in progress, and % 11,8 of other conditions. Conclusion: The effect of friends in men, domestic-personal problems in women is the first reason to start using the substance. The number of substance types used in married and separated parents is higher. As income level increases, the number of substance types used increases. The duration of substance use is higher in males, married and separated parents. Women had more interviews with the commission than men.
