Abstract (EN)

With the end of menstruation, the menopause period begins in a woman's life. This study was conducted with 83 menopausal women aged between 40-60 years in Balikesir province. Demographic characteristics, general health information, use of herbal products and nutritional status were determined with the results of the questionnaire applied to the individuals. The mean age of the individuals participating in the study was 53.35± 4.66 year, and the mean age at menopause was 47.73±4.95 year. The most common complaint in menopausal women was found to be hot flashes with a rate of 69.9%. When the participants were asked about their coping status with complaints, it was determined that 37.3% of them used herbal products and 73% of those using herbal products stated that herbal products helped their complaints. The average calorie intake of the individuals was 1243.98±1046.99 kcal, protein intake was 42±13.27 g, carbohydrate intake was 90.39±32.26 g, and fat intake was 48.92±16.62 g. A significant correlation was found between the frequency of use of herbal products and the consumption of sage and the frequency of use of herbal products and the types of herbal products used (p=0.05). A significant correlation was found between the use of chasteberry and black cohosh and the incidence of nervousness (p=0.05). A significant correlation was found between the use of Chinese angelica, flaxseed and St. John's Wort and the incidence of palpitation (p=0.05). A significant correlation was found between tablet use and the incidence of fatigue and weakness (p=0.05). A significant difference was found between the protein (%) averages according to the use of herbal products (p<0.05). There were no significant differences between the averages of energy intake, protein (g), carbohydrate (g), carbohydrate (%) and fiber (g) according to the use of herbal products (p=0.05). Menopause women's life is affected in many ways. In order to be less affected by this process, it is necessary to get support from professionals.
