Abstract (EN)
In our country, the teaching processes of Turkish folk dances are carried out within the framework of traditional teaching approaches, without relying on a certain method. When a source is researched from the past to the present, the inadequacy of academic studies on teaching Turkish folk dances is striking. Considering that a serious teaching model has not been established in this area, we have found it appropriate to conduct research in this area. The Orff Schulwerk approach has been known for many years. It also provides the opportunity to adapt the approach to different cultures by presenting different disciplines and pedagogical ideas to music and dance pedagogy education at the elementary level. Orff Schulwerk is an approach that provides positive effects on the personal development of children with its unique principles and brings feelings such as confidence, success and responsibility. We created our research based on the hypothesis that folk dances can be taught with this approach, which has come to the fore in the academic field in recent years. We implemented it in the model school in the 2021/2022 academic year with 10 students from the age group of 6/10 in Sait Çiftçi primary school affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (MEB). We were able to produce a solution to our problem as a result of our work with the selected model students and practices within a plan. As a result of the observations, it has been revealed that the model applied in the teaching of the plays, which is applied as a model to the teaching of Turkish folk dances with Orff Schulwerk Approaches, is effective on children. It has been seen that it provides a permanent learning environment that is not based on rote. Lesson plans were made by adapting the examples of folk dances selected to be used in the research with language, rhythm, movement, vocalization, instrument, improvisation and dance, which are the basic principles of the Orff Schulwerk approach. It is ensured that children learn the folk song and the game permanently, rhythmically, by presenting examples from different regions, where they learn and comprehend their own culture and games on a regional basis, not just as a lesson in which they learn the movements. In addition, the lessons of the folk dance master trainer appointed by the Ministry of National Education were recorded with both video and observation reports. It has been observed that an educational environment cannot be provided with instrument training or live music due to the inadequacy of the learning environment in the lessons, the lack of materials, the inadequacy of the space and economic inadequacies. However, since the traditional teaching approach was used, it was observed that the children could not attend the lesson 100% and some children were reluctant to learn the games.
