The impression of the graffiti on the students during the visual arts classes in secondary education: A sample of the application of a/r/tography

In this research, it was aimed to analyse the impression of the Graffiti on the students during the Visual Arts Classes in Secondary Education. The activity research,-which is known as a qualitative research method- and the a/r/tography method,-which is also known as a research, that based on art- have been used in the thesis. In order to get the data of the purpose of the research, observation (unstructured observation) interview (unstructured interview, fully structured dates) and visual materials were used. In the analyse of the obtained data during the research, descriptive analysis and content analysis were used together. The study group of the research consists of ten students,-4 boys and 6 girls- who have been studying in the 9th and 10th grades in the Anatolian Highschool, which belongs to Özalp district in VanAnIliann addition to this, this research has been done in spring and autumn terms in 2020-2021 academic years. According to the invention of this research; during the Visual Arts Classes, the application of graffiti was configured with creating the figurative meaning through writing the personal story and then designing grafiti as a result of the created meaning by using the artography method. This process has been expanded to 8 weeks, by including the weekdays and the weekends. The students managed to have awareness about thinking via writing, interrogating, creating meaning and doing art during the Visual Arts Class. Because of that the graffiti is a branch of art, which can be performed and seen by everyone in public, 9 students made grafitti, that creates awareness, and 1 student made graffiti, by using the letters in his name, instead of giving social message. The students chose their memories as a theme. All of the students completed their graffiti applications successfully. Most of the students used big shapes and big scripts together and they managed to use suitable colours for the meaning of their projects. The creativity and motivation of the students were affected positively and the students were encouraged to be original , because of that everybody would see their projects. The application of graffiti caused that a pieces of the student's life would involve in it and they would have some creative ideas.
