A study on the women who applied to three branches of REEM Neuropsychiatry Center with the depression complaint considering the effect of their childhood trauma to their depression level This work aims to show the relation between the childhood trauma and the depression levels of the women who consulted to the Reem Neuropsychiatry Service with the complaint of having depression. For these reason, impact of some parameters such as age of the individuals, marital status, education levels, working conditions, education level of the individuals' parents are investigated in terms of the relation between childhood trauma and depression. Individuals of this study are selected from the women who applied to the Reem Neuropsychiatry Service branches in Gaziosmanpaşa, Levent and Kadıköy in İstanbul city. One hundred women are selected from these patience applied with the complaint of having depression. The Beck Depression Inventory Scoring and the Childhood Trauma Inventory are used for data acquisition from the individuals. Additionally, personal information is collected with the organized form in order to determine the socio-demographic properties of the individuals. The result of the study is summarized as following. According to the socio-demographic properties, individuals who exposed to the psychological (emotional) abuses and who had the childhood trauma have much more depression level than the one do not have the childhood trauma. Furthermore, individuals who are married have the physical abuse level then the single individuals. In the study, there is no prove for the relation between the depression level and the socio-demographic parameters such as education levels, place where they live in their life in major time, family type. Moreover, this study proves that there is a both increasing relation between the physical abuses (maltreatment), psychological (emotional) abuses in the childhood of the individuals and their current depression levels. Finally, individuals with the depression are affected by their childhood trauma and their depression level is directly related with their childhood trauma. In the discussion section of this study, suggestion are given to the psychological counselors and to the families with the basis of the results of this work. Key Words : Depression,Childhood Trauma
