Abstract (EN)
This study is based on the statements of the participants as a method of one-on-one interview with persons who have been exposed to law enforcement officers more than once due to the use of narcotic drugs ad stimulant drugs. It is planned to investigate the attitudes toward the social problems (family, education, health, work) of these participants which they have encountered and have been encountering throughout their lives. Also, it is planned to investigate the relationship between the social problem solving skills and temperament (character), impulsivity and the tendency to sensation seeking behavior. At the same time, it is aimed to evaluate the relationship between social problem solving skills and substance use. It has been observed that the profiles of those who experienced legal sanctions more than once due to substance use differ markedly from those who experienced legal problems only once. The main causes of these differences are the complexity of the problems they face in their social lives, the avoidance or difficulty without problems, the lack of problem-solving skills, the inability to identify and intervene in the problems, the more orientation towards substance use and the frequent use of drugs. All of these observations were influential to conduct this research. In this study, there are two control groups beside the experimental group. The first control group was planned to be composed of persons who had been exposed to law enforcement officers only once due to the use of narcotic drugs and stimulants, and the second control group was composed of healthy individuals who had no addiction, no legal sanctions and no other criminal accusations. In this way, it was aimed to investigate the differences and / or similarities between the case group and the control groups. The data were collected with 100 male adult individuals, who were found to be liable for a probation penalty of drug / stimulant drug use and 50 randomly selected healty males, participated voluntarily at the directorate of probation offices. The scales used in the study were Social Problem Solving Inventory – SPSI,Temperament Evaluation of Memphis, Pisa, Paris and San Diego (TEMPS-A), Urgency, Premeditation (lack of), Perseverance (lack of), Sensation Seeking, Positive Urgency, Impulsive Behavior Scale (UPPS Impulsivity Sclae) and Zuckerman Sensation-Seeking Scale and individual intormation form.Post-hoc (multiple comparison) test, chi-square test and regression analysis were used. VI The result of the study shows significant differences between individuals who have been subjected to legal sanctions more than once due to substance use and control groups in terms of substance use frequency and amount of substance use, the number of crime stories due to reasons other than substance use. There were also significant differences between the case group and control groups in terms of social problem solving abilities, impulsivity, temperament-character traits, and excitement seeking behavior tendencies. Key words: Addiction, Probation, Social Problem Solving, Impulsivity, Temperament, Sensation-seeking.
