Evaluation of nursing approach in multimodal analgesia provided by web-based training together with the standard patient simulation

This research was experimentally carried out to determine the effect of training of nursing approach in multimodal analgesia provided by web-based education on students' knowledge and application skills. The sample of the research comprised of 69 students taking the course of "Surgical Diseases Nursing" and being registered students in the Nursing Department of Health Sciences Faculty of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and also accepting to participate in the research and meeting the research criteria. In collection of data; data form concerning with the introductory features, web site usability scale, student satisfaction and self-confidence scale in learning, achievement test and skill control list were used. In evaluation of data; mean, median, frequency, percent, chi-square correlation analysis, t test, Mann Whitney U, Wilcoxon W, Friedman two-way variance analysis, Spearman ro correlation and cronbach alpha analysis were used. In the research; score median of post achievement test of the students in the study group were 62.5 and score median of heritability achievement test was 67.5; score median of post achievement test of the students in the control group were 70 and score median of heritability achievement test was 65. There was no statistically significant difference between the post achievement test and the heritability achievement test scores of the study group and control group (p>0.05). Skill median score of the study group was 80 and skill median score of the control group was 68. The difference between the skill scores of the two groups was determined (p<0.05). According to the results of the research suggestions that usage of web based education in addition to training through presentation method in the classroom for the development of nursing skills for postoperative pain, incooperation with relevant centers and departments in universities for spreading web based education and providing necessary infrastructure in nursing education
