Relationship between spirutual orientation and suicidal tendency and treatment compliance of patients with depression and anxiety disorders

This research was conducted as descriptive study determine the relationship between spirutual orientation and suicidal tendency and treatment compliance patient with depression and anxiety disorders. Sample the study consists 295 patients diagnosed with anxiety and depression who are hospitalized psychiatry clinic University Gaziantep Sahinbey Research and Practice Hospital and who applied outpatient clinics to be treated. Personal Information Form (PIF), Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS), Spiritual Orientation Inventory (SOI) and Suicide Probability Scale (SPS) were used as data colection tool. Data analysis was evaluated using Independent Sample T Test, One Way Anova Test, Post Hoc and Pearson Test with SPSS Statistics version 26. Total scale scores patients were determined as BAI 25,53±13,58, BDI 26,25±13,29, SOI 85,48±28,17, MMAS 1,80±072, SPS 79,98±17,90. It was determined that there was statistically significant and negative correlation l between total mean scores the SOI and SPS at moderate level (p<0.05). It was detected that there was no statistically significant relationship between the total mean scores SOI and MMAS (p>0.05). It was found that there was statistically significant and negative correlation between total mean scores SPS and MMAS low level (p<0.05). It was determined that in patients with anxiety and depression; as the level spiritual orientation is increased, the probability suicide is decreased and as the probability suicide is decreased, the treatment compliance is increased. It is recommended to evaluate and support the spiritual orientation the patient in the therapeutic interaction with the patient and care process the psychiatric nurse.
