Abstract (EN)

Digital parenting is a concept that emerged in the 21st century, where digital technologies are developing at a rapid pace. In the digital age, digital parents are expected to ensure that their children benefit from digital opportunities at the highest level and protect their children from digital risks at the highest level. The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between parents' attitude, big five personality traits and cognitive flexibility levels. In addition, the study aimed to determine the screen usage time and purposes of parents and their children in high school; It is aimed to examine whether parents' digital parenting attitudes change according to various characteristics of parents and children. The study group of the research consisted of 383 parents, 275 of whom were mothers and 108 of whom were fathers, who had children studying at high school in Gaziantep. The data of the research were collected with Personal Information Form, Digital Parenting Attitude Scale, Big Five Personality Traits Scale and Cognitive Flexibilty Inventory. According to the results of the study, it was determined that there is a positive relationship between approving effective use of Digital media and cognitive flexibility and conscientiousness personality traits. There is a positive relationship between protecting against digital media risk and neuroticism personality trait; It has been determined that there is a negative relationship between the conscientiousness personality trait. There was a positive correlation between cognitive flexibility and extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness personality traits; It has been determined that there is a negative relationship between neuroticism personality trait. However, adolescents generally use the screen for entertainment; it has been determined that parents generally screens for communication purposes. In addition, it has been determined that as adolescents' screen use time increases, parents perceive digital media more risky. The findings of the study were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature; Various suggestions were made to researchers and practitioners.
