Özet (EN)
According to the social cognitive theory, personal characteristics, environmental events and behavior are the elements that affect each other in an active process. The basic principle of the related theory is that the elements affect each other mutually, but the strength of this interaction is not always the same and varies according to the activity. In this study, environmental event; social skill, personal factor; self-regulation skill and the behavior determinant were matched with the use of social media. It is thought that the dynamic relationship between the elements of the social cognitive theory, which constitutes the theoretical framework of the research, is also between the dependent variables of the study, social skills, self-regulation skills and social media addiction. In this study, it is aimed to examine secondary school students' social media addictions, social skills and self-regulation skills in terms of social cognitive theory. For this purpose, quantitative research design, one of the research designs, was used, and the relational survey model, one of the descriptive survey models, was used. The study group of the research consists of 423 secondary school students. In this study, social media addiction scale developed by Özgenel, Canpolat and Ekşi (2019), self-regulation scale developed by Arslan and Gelişli (2015), and social skill scale developed by Kocayörük and Kuzgun (2000) were used to collect data. In addition, the personal information form prepared by the researcher was used for the demographic information of the participants. In this context, the data collected as a result of the application were analyzed in the SPSS program in the light of the sub-problems of the study. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that social media addictions, social skills and self-regulation skills differ according to grade level, male students' addiction levels are higher than female students, but they are not significant, and there is a weak negative relationship between addiction and other variables.
