Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to investigate the effects of mobile phone use and screen addiction on the cardiovascular system. 61 participants (female = 32 male = 29) aged 18-35 residing in Istanbul were included in the study. The average age of the individuals participating in our study was 25. Demographic information of the participants was collected with the sociodemographic evaluation form. Participants completed the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form, Multiple Screen Addiction Scale, International Physical Activity Scale-Short Form, and Framingham Risk Score Assessment scales. The blood values of the individuals in the last 3 months were recorded. When the relationship between the surveys was examined in the analyses, a significant relationship was found between the Multiple Screen Addiction Scale and the Average Daily Phone Use Time (p=0.009) and the Smartphone Addiction Scale (p=0.000). The Framingham Risk Score Assessment Scale had no significant relationship with the Smartphone Addiction Scale, Multiple Screen Addiction Scale and International Physical Activity Scale (p>0.05). When the blood values of the individuals participating in our study were examined, it was seen that there was a significant relationship between cholesterol levels and Framingham Risk Score Evaluation (p = 0.000) and between LDL (Low-density lipoprotein) and the International Physical Activity Survey (p = 0.004). When the relationship between Blood Values and Phone and Screen Addiction was examined, it was seen that there was no significant relationship (p > 0.05). When comparing the survey values of male and female participants, a significant difference was found in the Framingham Risk Score Assessment (p = 0.023) score. As a result of our study, there is no effect duration of mobile phone use and screen addiction on cardiovascular risk factors or 10-year cardiovascular risk.
