Parental attitudes and childhood traumatic experiences as predictors of anger and anger expression styles in preadolescent sample

The present study was designed to examine the parents' attitudes and childhood traumatic experiences as predictors of anger and anger expression styles in preadolescent sample. The sample of the study consisted of 296 students aged between 12-14 years secondary school adolescents. For this purpose, personal information form (age, gender, class, family's financial status, parents' educational level, marital status of parents , parents' attitudes to how they perceive), State Trait Anger and Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI), Parenting Style Inventory (PSI) and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) were applied . The research carried out revealed that, the Uninvolved and Unsupportive parenting style effected high level of anger, low anger management and anger expression styles significantly. It also indicated that there was a negative relationship between the students' anger exppression styles and anger management where as an intermediate positive relationship is found between their way of expressing anger and the state of continuous anger.
