A woman writer from the Ottoman Empire to the republic: Müfide Ferit Tek

Müfide Ferit Hanım was born in 1892. Due to her father's constitutionalist ideas, her childhood years were spent in exile in Baghdad and Tripoli. Her education life started at St. Joseph's Nuns School that an Italian school in Tripoli. She continued her secondary education in Paris. She returned to her country after her father's death and married Ahmet Ferit Bey, whom she was engaged to at a young age. Müfide Ferit Hanım started to be recognized during the II. Constitutional Period. Müfide Ferit Hanım, who started her writing career with the Tanin newspaper, began to use the press frequently during the Balkan Wars. She wrote stories and memoirs especially in the Türk Yurdu magazine. She started to write her first novel, Aydemir, during the years of World War I, and became one of the most important figures of Turkism and women's movement. The fame she gained with his first novel, Aydemir, has given her different missions. She emphasized the concept of Turkism in all of her writings and was one of the first representatives of the idea of Turkism among women. In addition, the articles she wrote and the conferences she gave on subjects such as women's social rights and women's status made her known as a Turkist Feminist. During the National Struggle, she went to Ankara and became one of the main women who fought with her pen. The articles he wrote are promising articles of national unity, freedom and hope. She provided psychological support with her writings so that the Turkish nation would not lose hope. She was in countries such as England and Poland between 1922-1943 due to her husband Ahmet Ferit Bey's ambassadorial duties. It is almost as if she undertook the task of representing the new Turkish Republic State and Turkish women abroad. Müfide Ferit Hanım has been one of the intellectual women of Turkey from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic with her identity as a writer.
