Abstract (EN)

When the formation and development of the theater is examined, it is seen that theater, that is a means of expression, is based on the relation of the audience with the stage and the actor. With the development of the Contemporary Theater, the different approaches are re-determined the position of the actor and the audience. The concepts of the actor and the audience, which constitute the indispensable elements of the theater since of its birth, formed the basic dynamics of the stage. When the historical process is examined, it is seen that the mission of these concepts has been renewed and its functionality has changed direction. The relationship of the actor and the spectator has always been a steering and a direct impact to theater's formality. Different studies have been carried out in Contemporary Theater and new researches are underway. The concepts of "Empty Space" and "Immediate Theater", which Peter Brook put forward, have formed one of the building blocks of the Contemporary Theater. In this research, the evolution of the Contemporary Theater and Peter Brook's Modern Theater are examined within the framework of the player-spectator axis. In this study, "Literature Search" method was used. This research benefits from publications written on Contemporary Theater, books written by Peter Brook himself, articles written in journals and published theses. Key Words: Peter Brook, Actor, Spectator, Cotemporary Theater
