Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between relationship mindfulness, Gestalt contact styles and relationship-centered obsessive-compulsive symptoms and partner-focused obsessive-compulsive symptoms. The data was collected via online platforms from 360 individuals between the ages of 18-60 years who were in an ongoing romantic relationship and agreed to participate voluntarily in the present research. At the data collection phase, demographic information form, Gestalt Contact Styles Questionnaire-Revised Form (GCSQ-R), Relationship Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory (ROCI), Partner-Related Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms Inventory (PROCSI), and Relationship Mindfulness Measure (RMM) were applied. Pearson product-moment correlation analysis, independent samples T-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were used in the analysis of the obtained data. Correlation analyses revealed that there is a significant negative relationship between relationship mindfulness and relationship-centered, partner-focused obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Also, a significant positive relationship was found between retroflection and deflection contact styles and relationship-centered, partner-focused obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Moreover, multiple regression analyses revealed that romantic mindfulness negatively predicted relationship-centered and partner-focused obsessive-compulsive symptoms. On the other hand, retroflection contact style positively predicted relationship-centered and partner-focused obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Along with these, the findings of the comparative analyses regarding the variables of gender, marital status and psychiatric diagnosis and other relationships between the variables were also included in the study. The research findings were discussed within the framework of the related literature. In addition, the current research is, to the best of our knowledge, the first to examine the relationship between romantic mindfulness, Gestalt contact styles and relationship-centered and partner-focused obsessive-compulsive symptoms. The findings of the current research are important in terms of contributing to the literature and demonstrating the importance of considering relationship mindfulness and Gestalt contact styles in the evaluation of relationship-centered and partner-focused obsessive-compulsive symptoms encountered in clinical practice.
