Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the role of sound design in filmic narration by building a comprehensive analysis methodology that can be used to focus on how different properties of sound serve particular functions in a soundtrack. The framework of the analysis consists of four components, which are the physical, spatial, temporal and functional properties of film sound. In the meantime, case studies selected from the new cinema of Turkey provides an insight about how directors approach sound design in their films.
