Abstract (EN)

With the self-renewal movement of Ottoman Empire as using the Edict of Tanzimat in 3 November 1939, it has brought major changes in the state overall. These changes have occurred in both socio-cultural and economic fields. Changing in the taxation system is also one of these changes. People of the Ottoman Empire had relaxed with some changes in the taxation system and everyone had begun to pay taxes according to their incomes. In generallly, the tax which is named as "Temettüat Tax", began to be collected from people and also started to be recorded in temettüat books. Temettüat books are the books that are kept for the purpose of tax collection. Also in these registers, it is possible to find information about the animals, gardens, agricultural products and fields that are belonging to the individuals. These books are so significant. Because they are providing information about the social and economic situation of the period that they were kept in. Today, temettuat books are located in the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives. In our Master's thesis work; not only transcription and evaluation of the books that are belonging to the villages below which are depending to province of Kütahya's township Gümüş was made but also the population books were examinated.
