Assessment of the effect of psychological factors on adult patients at risk of cardiovascular disease in tikrit city

Objective: To evaluate the effect of psychological factors on adult patients at risk of cardiovascular disease in the city of Tikrit. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted between December 2020 and December 2021 at Tikrit Research and Application Hospital (Tikrit Emergency Hospital) and Salah Al-Din General Hospital. 245 patients who met the sample criteria were included in the study. The data were collected face-to-face in the hospital, and the personal information form and the Psychological Factors Scale-Patient version were used to collect the data. SPSS package program was used in the analysis of the data. Skewness and kurtosis testing were used to determine the normal distribution of data. In the analysis of the data, number, percentage, arithmetic mean, t-test and ANOVA test were used. In the study, p< 0.05 confidence interval was used. Results: GHQ-28 total score is 54.66 ± 28.8. In this study, it was revealed that there was a statistically significant relationship between age, education level, body mass index, family history, presence of advanced malignant disease, patient's suffering from neurological diseases, alcohol use, smoking and psychological factors, and that there was a statistically significant relationship between gender and the sub-dimensions of anxiety, social dysfunction and depression in favor of women (p<0,05). Conclusion: Psychological factors have a high impact on the development of diseases with high mortality rates such as cardiovascular diseases. Nurses who are responsible for the protection and development of health can increase the knowledge level of the society with their trainings. The protection of community mental health is also very important in terms of preventing chronic diseases.
