Abu'l-Mu'in an-Nasafi about the term īmān (Faith)

In this study, the etymological and theological approaches of the famous Māturīdīte school theologian Abu'l-Mu'in an-Nasafi about the term īmān (faith) were examined and it was found that the theory of īmān developed by him was so comprehensive, systematic and original that I could not encounter in the works of almost any theologian. In order to realize this aim, in the first part of the research, some terms that are directly or indirectly associated with the word "īmān" are analyzed. In the second part, the points emphasized by Islamic kālām schools in their definitions of "īmān" are mentioned. In the third chapter, the narrative and rational proofs used by Abu'l-Mu'in an-Nasafi while basing his "īmān" theory were examined and the way the author formulated the problem was determined. In the conclusion part, the opinions and views that can be put forward within the framework of Nesefi's understanding of "īmān" are listed and assessed.
