Analysis of relationship between disease knowledge and opinions, and medicine adherence and general self- efficacy levels of schizophrenia patients at community mental health centers

ABSTRACT Analysis of Relationship Between Disease Knowledge and Opinions, and Medicine Adherence and General Self- Efficacy Levels of Schizophrenia Patients at Community Mental Health Centers This study was planned to analysis of relationship between disease and opinions, and medicine adherence and general self-efficacy levels of schizophrenia patients at community mental health center. The sample of the study consisted of 48 patients who were continuously coming to Sincan Nafiz Körez State Hospital Community Mental Health Center and Yenimahalle Training and Research Hospital Community Mental Health Center in Ankara.In the study, Patient Identification Features Form, Morisky's Questions- Self- Report Measure of Adherence , General Self-Efficacy (GSE) Scale were used. The results were analyzed by using IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 software. Pearson's chi square test, Fisher's chi square test and Yates' chi square tests were used to compare the Morisky scale and Mann Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis tests were used to compare General self efficacy scale. Relations between scale scores were examined by Spearman correlation analysis. Patients participating in the study 62.5% were male and 37.5% were females. 47.9% of patients use medication between 11-20 years. In females, the GSE Scale score is significantly higher than that of males (p<0.05). No significant difference was found in Morisky medication compliance groups and GES Scale scores among all the questions asked about the disease information of the patients participating in the study (p> 0.05 in all cases). The GSE Scale score of the patients with high medition adherenve was significantly higher (p<0.05) There was a weak level of negative correlation between the GSE and Morisky's Questions- Self-Report Measure of Adherence scales (p< 0.05).
