Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to examine the relationship between the perceptions of gender, self-esteem, and levels of aging anxiety among individuals aged 18 to 65. For this purpose, data were collected from 410 adult individuals aged 18 to 65. The data were gathered through online platforms. The research utilized a Socio-Demographic Information Form, Gender Perception Scale, Two-Dimensional Self-Esteem Scale and Relational Aging Anxiety Scale. The obtained data were analyzed using IBM SPSS-25 statistical software. In line with the analysis, if normal distribution was present, Pearson Correlation, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA were used; if normal distribution was not present, the Kruskal-Wallis test was applied. Additionally, for examining the relationship between gender perception, self-esteem, and aging anxiety, Pearson Correlation, linear regression, and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted. As a result of the study, a negative relationship between self-esteem scores and relational aging anxiety scores, personal internalized aging anxiety scores, and collective affinity for older people scores. No significant relationship was observed between individuals' gender perceptions and personal internalized aging anxiety scores and relational aging anxiety scores. However, a positive relationship was identified between gender perceptions and collective affinity for older people scores. Additionally, it was determined that gender perceptions and self-esteem collectively predict individuals' levels of personal internalized aging anxiety, relational aging anxiety, and collective affinity for older people scores. The findings obtained have been discussed in relation to relevant domestic and international research. Due to the absence of another study examining the existing variables together, it can be said that the study holds a guiding quality for future research on topics related to gender perception, self-esteem, and aging anxiety. Key words: Aging Anxiety, Gender, Self-Esteem
