Abstract (EN)
Changes in sleep quality depending on the working system of individuals, may trigger food addiction by affecting nutritional status. With this study, it was aimed to evaluate the relationship between sleep quality and food addiction in shift and non- shift workers. The research was carried out with total 120 volunteers, 60 shifts and 60 non-shifts workers, in the 18-64 age group across Türkiye between the dates 25.05.2022 and 25.10.2022. The data of the research was collected via the Google Forms website. Data Analysis Package Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) 26.0 software was used while evaluating the findings obtained in the study. The distribution of the participants according to their socio-demographic characteristics was determined by frequency analysis. Descriptive statistics were given for the scores obtained from the scales and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, skewness-kurtosis results and QQ graph were analyzed for proper distribution of the data. In testing the hypotheses of the research, parametric tests (student t-test, ANOVA, Pearson test) were used in the case of the data conformed to the normal distribution, but in the circumstances the data did not conform to the normal distribution, non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Spearman test) were used. Furthermore, it was determined that the relationship between the Pittsburg sleep quality index classifications of shift and non-shift workers was statistically significant (p<0.05). A statistical correlation was found between the status of showing food addiction according to Yale food addiction test of working in shifts and non-shifts working participants (p<0.05). As a result, it was concluded that more studies are needed to determine the relationship between food addiction and sleep quality.
