Abstract (EN)

This study evaluates the relationship between hedonic hunger status and anthropometric measurements of adult individuals, with 49 participants 13 men and 36 women, who were not pregnant and not diagnosed with diabetes, who applied to the Nutrition and Dietetics Department of a private hospital in Batman between January and March 2021. A questionnaire formed to determine the demographic characteristics and eating habits of the participants; Power of Food Scale, Visual Analog Scale and Emotional Appetite Questionnaire was applied to measure hedonic hunger levels. The anthropometric measurements were measured using the Omron BF 511 device and tape measure. The mean age was 30.14 ± 10.85 years, the mean Body Mass Index (BMI) for women was 26.28 ± 6,69 kg/m² and for men was 27.22 ± 2,10 kg/m². The waist circumference of 69.4% of women is 80 cm or less, 92.3% of men is 94 cm or less. The average body fat percentage is 33.8% in women and 27.0% in men. While the mean PFS scores of women are 2.81, it is 2.83 for men. Mean EMAQ scores of women are 108.8 and 112.0 for men. In women, the PFS scores decreased linearly as BMI decreased. However, the group with BMI values of 25-29.99 kg/m² had higher PFS scores than the group with BMI values of 30-34.99 kg/m². BMI increases in men, PFS and EMAQ scores also increase. The lowest EMAQ scores in women were found in groups of 18 kg/m² and below, and it was observed that scores increased linearly as BMI increased; differently, it was observed that the group with a BMI of 30-34.99 kg/m² had higher scores than the group with a BMI of 35 kg/m² and above. Since the study data are parallel to some of the studies in the literature and contradictory with others, more studies are needed to reach definitive conclusions.
