Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to determine to what extent cognitive emotion regulation strategies of individuals predict anxiety and hopelessness levels during the pandemic process. The dependent variables of the study are hopelessness and anxiety, and the independent variables are cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Within the scope of the research, it was also examined whether the anxiety and hopelessness levels of individuals' cognitive emotion regulation strategies differ significantly in terms of Covid-19, Covid-19 symptom, place of residence in the pandemic, medical and psychological discomfort, and Covid-19 vaccine. The research group consists of individuals between the ages of 20-29. A total of 400 individuals, 256 (64%) female and 144 (36%) male, participated in the study. The research was carried out with the relational scanning model, one of the general scanning models. "Personal Data Form" was used as a data collection tool to reach the demographic information of individuals. In addition, "Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale", "Beck Hopelessness Scale" and "Beck Anxiety Scale" were used. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine to what extent cognitive emotion regulation strategies predicted hopelessness and anxiety. As a result of the analysis, it was found that cognitive emotion regulation strategies predicted hopelessness (R=0.170; R2=0.029; F=1.180; p<.001) and anxiety (R=0.502; R2=0.252; F=13.323; p<.05). In order to determine whether the anxiety and hopelessness levels of individuals' cognitive emotion regulation strategies differ significantly in terms of Covid-19, Covid-19 symptom, place of residence in the pandemic, medical and psychological discomfort, and Covid-19 vaccination, independent groups t-test and a single directional analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used. As a result of the research, individuals' cognitive emotion regulation strategies differ in terms of having Covid-19, having a medical illness and having a psychological disorder; It was observed that anxiety levels differed only in terms of having medical and psychological disorders. It was concluded that hopelessness levels were not affected by the demographic variables related to Covid-19. Keywords: Covid-19, Anxiety, Hopelessness, Cognitive Emotion Regulation
