Abstract (EN)

In this study the discussion of "human actions", which is one of the most significant discussions in the history of kalām, has been tried to be analyzed with a semantic and analytical reading through central motives such as devâî and savârıf in the thought of Fakhr al-Dîn al-Râzî, one of the cornerstone names of the history of Islamic thought. Due to the fact that the topic took place in various fields before the discipline of kalām, in the first part of the study, the meanings attributed before Râzî are examined by focusing on the historical background of the concepts. Following the presentation of the historical process, in the conceptual frames in which the terms devâî and savârıf are analyzed indepth, starting from the sources, especially the Qur'an and hadîth-i-sherîfs, how the concepts are handled in the Arabic literature and primary dictionary resources, their logical consistency, interdisciplinary variable definitions, sectarian foundations, how they are used at the social level and their terms expressing similar meanings are expressed. In the second and main part of the study, the concept of motive in Râzî's thought, effect on human behavior, the possibility of functionality in the issues problematized in the context of the learning of kalām, similar aspects with psychological theories and connection with contemporary approaches have been tried to clarify the perspective of mutakallim on this point.
