Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-esteem, perfectionism, parental attitudes, anxiety and depression in adolescents. The study was conducted with 302 high school students in Bakırköy. Personal Information Form, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Parent Attitude Scale, Perfectionism Scale, Beck Depression Scale and Beck Anxiety Scale were administered to the students. According to the findings, perceived parental attitudes, anxiety, depression and self-esteem scores differed significantly in terms of gender, class, number of siblings, birth order and parental education level variables. When the relationship between the study variables was examined, it was found that anxiety, depression and perfectionism sub-dimensions were related to perceived parental attitudes. When the predictors of the perfectionism sub-dimensions were examined, it was found that the self-perfectionism sub-dimension was positively influenced by students' anxiety level and perceived protective-demanding parent attitude; It was determined that the perceived democratic parental attitude was negatively and significantly predicted. The social perfectionism sub-dimension was positively and significantly predicted by the anxiety and perceived protective-demanding parent attitude of the students. It can be considered that the findings obtained in this study may contribute to education and intervention studies that will be provided for adolescents and support psychosocial development and further studies on this subject can be conducted.
